750 000 t per month

Mamatwan Mine is located in the western part of South Africa, in the Northen Cape province. Mamatwan represents one of a few mines with the largest manganese reserve within South Africa. The mine has an estimated reserve of millions of tones of manganese ore with a grading 40% manganese metal. The open-cut Mamatwan Mine started it’s operations over more than a century ago, the underground Wessels mine followed just a few years later. TAU Mining was privileged enough to contribute to the successful operation of the mine for 5 years starting in 2011. TAU Mining was responsible for the Load and Haul of the manganese Overburden. TAU’s operations consisted of moving 750 000 tons of overburden per month.

TAU Mining was in a privileged position to work on the project from the greenfield stage in 2018. TAU Mining played a huge roll in the daily operations through various Opencast Mining services, consisting of Drilling and Blasting, Road construction and Load and Haul. TAU Mining worked with various materials such as Softs, Waste and Ore.
During the 4 year contract that started in 2018, TAU contributed more than 1 500 000 BCM’s per month.

TAU Mining focused on employing members of the local communities, TAU also ensured that necessary learning and development of our employees were done to ensure the community will be upskilled. During the duration of the project TAU employed over 600 employees including sub-contractors.

1 500 000 BCM/month of waste + up to 300 000 t of coal

Klipspruit Colliery is located in the Emalahleni Local Municipality within the Nkangala District Municipality near Ogies and the Phola Township in the Mpumalanga province. Klipspruit is an multi-seam open-pit mine producing coal for local and international export. Operations at Klipspruit are via a combination of dragline and truck and shovel operation.
TAU Mining played a role in the daily operations via various road construction and load and haul. TAU worked with various materials such as Topsoil, Softs, Burden and Coal.

Kumba Iron Ore and Sishen mine is located in the Northen Cape province near the town of Kathu. Sishen has been operational since 1953 and is one of the largest open pit mines in the world being approximately 14km long. Sishen plays a key role in Iron Ore production due to the sustainable life span of the mine that is still available.
Sishen mine TAU Mining contributed to the successful operation of the Sishen mine for 9 year starting in 2009. TAU Mining was responsible for the Load and Haul of Ore and Waste. TAU Mining played a crucial role in the daily operations of loading and hauling.

4 400 000 T/month

TAU Mining has recently partnered with Vedanta at the Gasmberg mine, TAU will become a key player in the daily operations of Gamsberg mine. TAU is responsible for various opencast mining services that consist of Drilling and Blasting, Road construction, Load and haul of diffent materials such as Softs, Watse and Ore. TAU Mining is planning to achieve 4 400 00 tones per month once fully operational. TAU Mining is focused on employing members from the local surrounding areas. TAU is not only employing local member of the community, but TAU is also upskilling members of the community through various projects that are currently running within the company.
